Is there a more unique nu-metal band than System of a Down? Over the course of five albums, the Armenian-American alchemists have helped re-define modern metal in all their politically minded, lighting-quick, multi-instrumentalist glory. System of a Down's fourth album Mezmerize came crashing into view in 2005 and churned out 11 surreal ragers pitted with the vein-popping screams of larger-than-life frontman Serj Tankian, the Armenian folk of their heritage, and oh-so-gnarly guitar work from Daron Malakian. "Radio / Video" incorporates all of the aforementioned motifs for a total thrasher of a tune that doubles up as a nostalgia trip for Daron Malakian, whose record-collecting childhood forms the backbone of the zany song. System of a Down have a knack for making their theatrical songs still sound direct with the LP's hit anti-war single "B.Y.O.B" – which brazenly rallies against the business of war – earning the band the Grammy Award in 2006 for Best Hard Rock Performance.
