In typically snarky fashion, NOFX launch an acerbic rant against the commercialisation of music on "Please Pay This Song on the Radio," featured as eighth track on the Los Angeles group's 1992 album White Trash, Two Heebs, and a Bean. The LP was produced by Donnell Cameron rather than the band's previous collaborator, Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, with whom they worked on their first three studio albums. "We wrote this song / It's not too short, it's not too long / It's got back-up vocals in just the right places," they begin, sarcastically confronting the pressure of having to churn out radio-friendly hits while serving up a meta critique of pop-punk, which was gaining momentum at the time. As it so happens, "Please Pay This Song on the Radio" is a short, catchy trip that's perfect for the airwaves: mission accomplished. The pop-punk headbanger is one of NOFX's best-love entries into the punk-rock canon.
