For their 2004 track "Tobacco Island," Celtic punk upstarts Flogging Molly took inspiration from the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland ("All to hell, we must sail for the shores of sweet Barbados"), conjuring unflinching imagery through hard-hitting storytelling and a riot of traditional-meets-modern instrumentation. Over 100,000 people were kicked out of Ireland and forced to live in Barbados, Bermuda and Virginia by Oliver Cromwell & the Protestant majority of England through indentured servitude during the 17th century. "Tobacco Island" brings this dark history to light for Flogging Molly's third studio album Within a Mile of Home, which was released in 2004 and dedicated to Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash. The album made it to number 20 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart and number one on the Independent Music chart. The following. year, LP track "To Youth (My Sweet Roisin Dubh)" appeared on the soundtrack of FIFA Football 2005.
